Officially announced with an Intel chipset from the Clover Trail+ series, the top of the range ZTE will be eventually a smartphone with Nvidia chipset, more precisely the powerful Tegra 4.
Avoided until now by the hardware manufacturers because of their doubts related to the its energy consumption and operating temperature, perceived as being too large for the requirements of a modern smartphone, the chipset Tegra 4 looks like will eventually arrive to the heart of ZTE U988S, better known by the name of ZTE GEEK.
In the new configuration, ZTE Geek comes equipped with a 5 inch display with a 1080p resolution and a 13MP camera. The Tegra chipset 4 provides the 1.8 GHz quad-core CPU, a GeForce GPU and is assisted with 2 GB DDR3 RAM.
Currently, the latest version with the specifications of the ZTE Geek terminal is ready to be launched only for the China market, where will be available in the subscription offer of the telecom operator China Mobile. Unfortunately, the fate of the initial version of the phone, equipped with an Intel chipset, is not known, and so are the company plans for an eventual launching of the new edition ZTE Geek for the international market.
