The Engagement Ring Offered by Napoleon to Josephine is Being Auctioned 1

When Napoleon proposed to Josephine, almost no one agreed. Although she was a widow and with six years older than him, just two days before they announced the engagement, the emperor married the woman it was told to be his great love.

He offered her a ring that on March 24th will be auctioned at Fontainebleau, in Southern France at a price starting at 16.000 euro.

Among all the things that belonged to Napoleon and that were auctioned, there are a rare letter starting at 100.000 euro, a chair from 1815 in Belgium ($18.540) and a piece of his hair cut right after he died, for $15.500.
