Robert Downey Jr. (48 years old) is the highest paid actor in Hollywood, according to the rankings compiled by U.S magazine Forbes. During June 2012 and June 2013, he won $75 million, playing roles in two of the most profitable productions of all times: ”The Avengers” with revenues of $1.5 billion and “Iron Man 3” with overall receipts of $1.2 million.
Robert Downey Jr. would have received $50 million just for the role in “The Avengers”, the highest salary in Hollywood, according to U.S media.
Among the highest paid actors in 2013, are Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson.
Channing Tatum, 33, who self-financed the film “Magic Mike”, a production with revenues of $167 million, earned $60 million in the period mentioned.
The Australian actor Hugh Jackman, 44, whose film will be released today in the U.S theaters, earned $55 million.
Mark Wahlberg, 42, has rounded revenues with the comedy “Ted”, a movie with receipts of $550 million. The American actor earned $52 million, securing the fourth place in the rankings.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 41, won $46 million, after starring in “Fast & Furious 6”, a movie with receipts of $500 million, and in “GI Joe: Retaliation”.
Leonardo Di Caprio has won $39 million in the last 12 months. He plays the lead role in “The Great Gatsby”, directed by Baz Luhrmann, who grossed $250 million, although it was widely criticized by the public.
Adam Sandler, 46 is the only comedian in the top 10, thanks to the film “Hotel Transylvania”, which grossed $347 million. Sandler earned $37 million during the period mentioned.
Last year, Tom Cruise, 51, took the first place in the Forbes ranking with revenues of $75 million, but in 2013 he dropped seven places, with earnings of $35 million.
Denzel Washington, 58, was not very happy after launching “Flight” (even though it brought him an Oscar nomination). The film generated revenues of $162 million, and Washington won $32 million.
Liam Neeson occupies the 10th place in the Forbes ranking, with an annual income of $32 million.
