Placed in the middle of a 600 km natural reservation, Montana Magica Lodge, seems like it was built after a beautiful dream. It’s in fact a real construction, o hotel shaped like a volcano covered in lush greenery and the water that slides over windows.
The natural reservation of the Huilo Huilo biosphere located in the south of Chile is surrounded by the Patagonian Andes peaks. It is one of the protected objectives of UNESCO and because of all the rare species of plants and animals, it was declared the 25th most valuable ecoregion of the planet.
Huilo Huilo is a private property that functions as a developed place for ecotourism, strongly connected with the respect for the locals’ culture and the protection of nature. The hotels and cabanas opened in the area were built by craftsmen and builders in the nearby villages, under the direction of a foundation that leads many projecting projects. Montana Magica Lodge is not the only hotel in the area, but is by far the most spectacular one.
Having the conic shape of a volcano, the construction is covered in vegetation and is permanently washed by the clear waters of a mountain river that slides above the windows of the rooms. It was built in such way that it doesn’t affect the climate of the area, but having the benefits of a modern hotel. The rooms are simple, decorated in the rustic spirit of the zone and, almost with no exception, provides an impressive view of the forest closely located to it. There’s a mini-golf terrain, a spa, a conference room, a study room, a restaurant, a bar and a playground for the children.
The attractions here are related to the natural beauty of the reservation. There are organized trips and sessions to follow wild animals. Inside the reservation live mountain lions, rare species of birds and plants like the pudu deer that is only 30 cm tall. We are recommended visits in the villages in the area and also trying culinary specialties or Chilean wines, increasingly popular.
