Istanbul is a spectacular city with delicious food and many ways of spending your time. All these make it the perfect destination for a city-break. From March a new sensational destination opened on the shores of Bosporus.
Probably you’ve heard about the French designer Philippe Starck. He creates furniture pieces and even houses. In 2008 he associated with a renowned cook-chef, Serge Trigano, to open his own hotel in Paris. A boutique-hotel that is not as expensive as other locations. At the hotel Mama Shelter a room costs €89, more than decent for the French capital. The success was immediate, so the team put the basis of two extra locations, one in Marseilles and Lion, and from March, one in Istanbul.
The prices are low, starting from €79 for a double room and don’t pass €100. What’s interesting is that the hotel doesn’t have any detail from the seriousness of the design promoted by Starck. Another novelty, for Istanbul, is the fact that the location of the hotel is on the roof of the commercial centre Istiklal Caddesi and not in the middle of the touristic zones of the city. In this way, the hotel starts from the 4th floor.
The style that the designer approached for his entire hotel chain is a mix between comfort, cool and humor. As you arrive, by elevator, to the reception, you are greeted by a multifunctional space which includes a lounge, a bar, a pizzeria, a restaurant, a kitchen, a scene and a terrace. This way, besides the inflatable buoys and other funny elements, the designer let the local artists to listen to their imagination. The rooms are simple, dominated by white and a few color accents, but the special note is given by the humor with which Starck used the masks of the superheroes from comics to decorate the rooms, making you feel as a child in his parents’ home.
