Maldives Islands is a tropical paradise, perfect for those who want to get detached from the alert rhythm of life.
“Ithaa” means “pearl” in the local language and is an ingenuous underwater restaurant and the first one in the world, situated 16 feet below the sea, being surrounded by vibrant coral reef.
The transparent roof of the restaurant provides an impressive 270° panoramic underwater view. It was opened in 2005 and can host up to 14 people at a time.
To enter the restaurant you must climb down a spiral staircase in a thatched pavilion at the end of a jetty. It wouldn’t even matter if you wait longer than you thought for your meal because the view is simply breathtaking: colorful fish surrounding the coral reefs that offer an incredible live spectacle.
The place can be booked for private parties and for weddings too.
