Golden Nanoparticles Transform Trees into Street Lights
Street lights are indispensable because they light our way home and make the streets safe at night. But what if we could create natural street lights, which don’t need electricity to power them?
A group of scientists in Taiwan made some research and discovered that by placing gold nanoparticles within the leaves of the trees will determine them to give off a luminous reddish glow. The fact that trees are used to replace the street lights is a great idea that leads to saving energy costs and lowering CO2 emissions.
The gold nanoparticles implanted into the leaves of the Bacopa caroliniana plants, permitted scientists to induce the chlorophyll in the leaves to produce a red emission.
