Barcelona might have a new stadium in the future! The chiefs of the Catalan club want Camp Nou to be more spacious. Its capacity will reach 105,000 seats, compared to 98,000 as it has now.
On 5 or 6 April will be roganized a referendum and people will vote whether to build a new arena on the property of the University of Barcelona or to increase the capacity of the current stadium. It is needed at least 600 million for a new stadium and 200 million for remodeling.
The new stadium will have more space dedicated to fans (restaurants, cinemas and conference rooms, a hotel and catering) and an increased capacity of the lodge. Works will start in May 2017 and will end in February 2021.
Camp Nou was inaugurated in 1957 and has reached its maximum capacity – 120 000 people – during the World Cup in Spain in 1982.
