Extreme Paso International Los Libertadores

The distance between Argentina and Chile is covered by a mountain pass called Cristo Redentor or Paso International Los Libertadores, which is also the main transport route that connects the Chilean capital city of Santiago to Mendoza city in Argentina.

Cristo Redentor is also one of the most challenging roads to navigate due to its twenty nine hard switchbacks on an extremely steep incline.

During winter the mountain pass can be closed because of the heavy snows blocking both ends and the threat of rockfall.
