Presented at CES 2014, this is a 3D printer with the potential of revolutionizing the fast food industry and confectioneries in particular. Fed with the right ingredients, the machine can produce a lot of colored snacks, cakes, taking various forms of what would be difficult or impossible to achieve by using traditional methods.
Priced at $5,000, the Chefjet printer reproduces objects by using chocolate and other sugar based ingredients infused with flavors of vanilla, mint, sweet apples, cherries or watermelon. Chefjet Pro is the double priced version that raises the level of complexity using different ingredients and creating 3D colored clothing.
The two printers made by the American Company 3D Systems will be available in series production later this year. Meanwhile, the manufacturer hopes to draw the attention of the small entrepreneurs with a 3D printer worth $10,000 that can make ceramic objects, but also a model for $5,000 that assembles plastic layouts.
