To mark 30 years from the first Chronomat model, Breitling launched a special series for which it prepared a special image inspired by the requirements of professional pilots.

The story of the Chronomat began in the 1980s, soon after the successor of the founder Willy Breitling had sold the company to the Schneider family. Ernest Schneider’s first mission was to win the auction of the Italian squadron Frecce Tricolori, which in that period was looking for a partner for the official watch of the pilots.

Professionals in acrobatics, Frecce Tricolori members focused on the strength of the housing, on how the link the belt on the housing, on the legibility of the dial but mostly on the ergonomic shape of the buttons, which had to be pressed easily with gloves. Finally, the result convinced from all points of view and, in 1983, Chronomat became the official watch of the Italian pilots.
