888,246 Red Ceramic Poppies Invade the Tower of London

The artists Paul Cummings and the designer Tom Piper are planning to commemorate each and every British Colonial fatality from World War 1 by planting 888,246 red ceramic poppies in a flowing sea around the Tower of London.

The installation that is called “Blood Swept Lands And Seas of Red” will be unveiled on August 5th, and the final 888,246th flower will be planted on November 11, a day that commemorates the end of the war.
