1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Put Up For Auction
Who said that the place of jewelry is in boxes or in a safe, has never heard of Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.
It is neither the first nor the last car auctioned by RM Auctions, but this Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is not the most common model in the world, whether we are talking about private garages, museum showcases or exhibitions.
The model was incurred from a request of the Sultan of Brunei, who wanted two SL 300 to be equipped with modern parts. The Germans didn’t stop here, so between 1996 and 2009, the AMG division has dealt with 11 such models and a coupe with Gullwing doors was enrolled at an auction scheduled for May in Monaco.
Under the gorgeous bodywork, the engineers have fitted a 6-liter V8 engine with 380 hp and a maximum torque of 578 Nm. The suspension system comes from Bilstein and contains AMG alloy components and the engine is operated with an automatic gearbox with four reports.
The interior is decorated with Nappa and Alcantara leather, and AMG have managed to equip the doors with protective panels of carbon fiber, while the classic instrument cluster has been kept in the company of a little more modern electronic display.
